AquaConSoil 2025: Focus on Sustainable Land Management and PFAS Treatment

AquaConSoil 2025 took place in Liège, Belgium from June 16th to 20th, focusing on sustainable land management, PFAS treatment, and groundwater protection. The conference brought together experts from across Europe to promote innovation and knowledge exchange in soil, sediment, and water resource management.

The LIFE SOuRCE project hosted a session on PFAS on June 19, with almost 50 participants. The session featured presentations from experts at EURECATEnvytech Solutions ABESOLVESLU, and Nova Diamant, who presented four different techniques for cleaning PFAS-contaminated groundwater:

  • Surface-Active Foam Fractionation (SAFF)
  • Anion Exchange Filters (AEX)
  • Phytoremediation (PHYTO)
  • Electrochemical Oxidation (EO)

Examples from the project’s test sites in Sweden and Spain demonstrated how these techniques can be linked together into effective treatment trains. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, moderated by SGI, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.
